It was a good Tuesday night abroad for South Africa’s Tokelo Rantie as his AFC Bournemouth side beat Burton Albion 4-1 in their third round FA Cup replay to progress further in England’s most prestigious cup tournament.
Sadly, the same could not be said for Kgosietsile Ntlhe as Peterborough United crashed out of the FA Cup to a team two divisions below them.
Rantie played 83 minutes in AFC Bournemouth’s 4-1 win over Burton Albion at the Goldsands stadium. The striker did not find the back of the net himself, but he was a menace in attack the entire night and created numerous goal scoring chances for his teammates.
Ntlhe, though, spent the night on the bench and probably could have been better served on the pitch in defence as his Peterborough United side lost 3-2 to Kidderminster Harriers in their third round FA Cup replay.
It will be a hard loss for Peterborough to swallow, especially considering they surrendered an early lead to lose to a side a whole two leagues below them.
Over in Belgium, Darren Keet was at his best between the sticks for Kortrijk as they ran out 1-0 winners over Gent in the second leg of their Belgium Cup quarterfinal match which left the scores locked at 1-1 on aggregate.
This resulted in an additional 30 minutes which did not produce any goals as the game entered a penalty shoot-out.
Sadly, Keet could not help his team into the semifinals of the competition as Gent ran out 5-4 winners on penalties.
