Ex-Bucs Man Gets Papers, Euro Debut Beckons
Lehlogonolo ‘Vieira’ Masalesa could make his European bow this evening after the former Orlando Pirates midfielder was granted his ‘blue card’.
The 24-year-old signed for the Greek side last month after impressing during a training spell with the Super League outfit, and it was reported earlier in the week that he could make his debut against Veria.
According to the player's representatives, Siyavuma Sports Group, ‘Vieira’ has been in camp with the club over the last couple of days, however there were doubts about whether he would get the relevant documents in time.
The ‘blue card’ - an approved EU-wide work permit allowing high-skilled non-EU citizens to work and live in any country within the European Union, excluding Denmark, Ireland and the United Kingdom – is now in his possession, and he is available for selection this evening.
It remains to be seen whether Masalesa, who hasn’t played since May, will be handed a start by Sakis Tsiolis, but the Siya crew are led to believe that he has made it into the starting XI.
