It will be all eyes on Neymar this weekend as he makes his debut for Paris Saint-Germain, but South Africa’s Lebogang Phiri will be having a bit more of an up-close view of proceedings.

The 25-year-old Brazilians became the world’s most expensive player this month when he completed a €222 million move from Barcelona to France, and the world will be tuning in on Sunday when he dons the PSG jersey in a game for the first time.
His opponents? Phiri’s EA Guingamp.
While there will be only around 17,000 inside the Stade de Roudourou in Guingamp, the game could potentially be one of the most matched matches in the world this year as people look to see the Brazilian star in action.
Phiri had a great debut last week as they beat Metz 3-1, but he knows that it will be a different ball game when they come up against Neymar and Co on Sunday afternoon.
“In all honesty, this is going to be the highlight of my career thus far,” he told the Siya crew. “Playing against a player of Neymar’s calibre is a dream come true. He’s the most expensive transfer of all time and his debut is happening right in front of my face.
“I’m really looking forward to it, but at the end of the day we have to try and come away with a result regardless of the size of PSG.”
Aside from the circus that will surround the former Barca man, the 22-year-old South African says that it is the perfect chance for he and his teammates to show people what they’re capable of.
He said, “Everyone in the world will be watching, so it’s also a really good platform for us as players that are unknown. People might get to know us - and the club - because of this game. It’s a big stage for us to showcase our talent.
“We have expectations as players, as a club, and we need to fulfil them. We’re playing against a really good side who have signed one of the best players in the world and of course it’s a big deal.
“To beat, or even draw, against PSG you have to be on a really high level prior to matchday. And on match day you have to be magnificent. We’re all ready, we’re pushing each day.”
And who’s gunning for Neymar’s debut jersey at the end of the game? “Nobody has said they’re going to, but I’m going to try and get it!”
