No Europa League For Manyama… Yet
Lebogang Manyama Will Not Be Playing Europa League Yet
Konyaspor were not able to register their new signing, Lebogang Manyama, for the UEFA Europa League group stages, however, he could feature if they are to progress.
Manyama completed a move believed to be worth around R10m from Cape Town City shortly before the Turkish transfer window slammed shut last week, and while it was done in time for the league, his international commitments meant it couldn’t be done in time for the continental competition.
The 26-year-old finalised his move to Konyaspor on Thursday after jetting out to undergo a medical in Turkey and went on to make his debut on Saturday night in the 2-0 defeat to Alanyaspor.
His new side will face Marseille in France on Thursday night, although he will not be able to play due to the registration deadline for the UEL ending on September 1st when he was still on international duty with Bafana Bafana.
All is not lost though for Manyama’s European dream, with another registration period opening up in the new year should Konyaspor manage to overcome the likes of Marseille, Salzburg and Vitoria de Guimaraes to manoeuvre their way into the knockout rounds.
