News coming out of Egypt is that the final piece in Percy Tau’s possible reunion with his former coach Pitso Mosimane has now been agreed to.
On Tuesday, Soccer Laduma broke the news that the reigning CAF Champions League winner Mosimane, was keen to reunite with Tau at Al Ahly.
Subsequently, the Siya crew reported that the two clubs opened talks and that an undisclosed transfer fee was agreed on, with the only thing left for a deal to be completed was for the player to agree personal terms.
Now, the latest news reaching the crew from well-placed sources in Egypt is that the 27-year-old’s demands have been met and that he has agreed personal terms with the Red Eagles!
According to the source, a move for Tau to Ahly is all but done – although it is unclear at this point whether the move is a permanent one or if he will be joining on loan.
There was a risk that Brighton would lose the player on a free when his contract comes to and end on 30 June 2022, and this seems to be a deal that has been done to avoid that situation.
Brighton splashed a fee of around R50m to land Tau from Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018.
Should he join Ahly, Tau will become the second former Mamelodi Sundowns player to join the Red Eagles, after the crew reported that Luis Miqissone agreed personal terms with the Egyptian giants last week.
