Bongani Khumalo's rise in form continued as he played a crucial part in helping Doncaster Rovers to a 2-2 draw away to Wigan Athletic on Tuesday.
The former Bafana Bafana skipper made some crucial tackles and clearances while he was also effective at the other end of the pitch - though Rovers still saw a two-goal lead slip against the former Premier League side.
Theo Robinson had put the visitors ahead at the DW Stadium before Khumalo played a major part in their second goal when his cross was nodded back across goal by Rob Jones for Chris Brown to finish.
Khumalo then produced a powerful header four minutes after the break off but saw it come back off the woodwork as they came within inches of taking a 3-0 lead.
The defender blocked a shot from Leon Barnett in the 89th minute but the latter would get another attempt moments later to fire in the equaliser - after Shaun Maloney had pulled a goal back earlier in the half.
Dean Furman, who just returned from international duty with South Africa, was a 51st minute substitute - replacing Richard Wellens as they tried to keep the Latics at bay.
