It’s a new season with new challenges ahead, and Kgosi Ntlhe has already got his sights set on gaining promotion in his first season with Scunthorpe United.

The 25-year-old Bafana Bafana international left Rochdale in League One after he opted against signing a new deal at the club, instead joining Scunthorpe United as they look to try and land promotion back to the English third-tier next season.
Ntlhe, who plays primarily as a left-back, turned down offers from other clubs in order to join The Irons, admitting that the head coach, Paul Hurst, played a major role in getting him to move to North Lincolnshire.
Speaking to Scunthorpe’s official website, the defender said, “I’m excited. There’s a challenge here and it’s clear to everyone what we need to do… I had options elsewhere but the manager showed good intent. I’ve played against his teams previously and they’ve always been good sides.
“The manager played a big part in me signing, and Scunthorpe were always seen by me as a powerhouse in League One. It was a shock that they went down, but that happens to teams every now and then. Playing against Scunthorpe was always a challenge and winning against them was seen as a very good win.
And he’s got hefty ambitions for the upcoming campaign, adding, “Personally I’m going to take each game as it comes. We want to play well, win them and get promoted... I’ve met the boys, some of them are big lads. I know Harrison (McGahey) and Lundy (Matthew Lund) already too."
Scunthorpe get their season underway against Swindon Town on the opening day next month, and Ntlhe will be hoping to get a debut at home against the Robins.
