The Siya crew reported earlier today that the 28-year-old was on the verge of a switch to Portugal, and it has now been revealed that his new club is the same team in Setubal that former Bafana Bafana star, Eric Tinkler, used to play for.
According to Siya sources, Erasmus is due to sign a three-year deal with the Portuguese Primeira Liga outfit at some point on Thursday, with an announcement now thought to be imminent as long as all goes according to plan.
Erasmus impressed during his time with AFC Eskilstuna in Sweden following his departure from French side, Stade Rennais, and his performances have seen him take a step in in terms of divisions as he prepares for a spell in the Portuguese top-flight.
Meanwhile, in other news, it has also been confirmed that young Sphephelo Sithole has also signed for the same side – though he will be playing for the U23s – while fellow KZN Academy graduates, Philani Jaca and Nkanyiso Shinga, have joined Vitoria de Setubal’s U19s.
With today being a public holiday in Portugal, Erasmus is expected to be announced by the club at some stage tomorrow.
