Kermit Erasmus has been given the go-ahead to make his debut in Sweden and has chosen a squad number at AFC Eskilstuna that will be familiar to South African fans.
The 27-year-old forward completed his move to the Swedish side last month following his exit from Stade Rennais in France but was unable to play last weekend as he waited for his work permit.
Now, with the club facing Falkenberg this weekend, the Siya crew has been informed that the Bafana Bafana international has all of his paperwork sorted, and could make his Swedish bow on Saturday afternoon.
Erasmus will be wearing the number 95 jersey that he wore during his time at Orlando Pirates and will be eager to try and rekindle the form that saw him make the move from the Buccaneers to Europe in the first place.
Speaking on the club’s social media this week, the attacker said, “I came here for a reason, and that’s to help the team go back to the first league. That’s what I want to give, and hopefully, I can have a positive impact and be of importance to the team throughout the season.”
It remains to be seen whether the forward will be given a starting berth in his first game this weekend, but he is expected to make an appearance as he looks to get off to a good start in Sweden.
