Kamohelo Mokotjo got another 90 minutes under his belt in England over the weekend, and Brentford are now looking like a team truly capable of making an English Premier League push.
The Bees beat fellow promotion hopefuls, Fulham, 1-0 in a London derby over the weekend, with Mokotjo putting in a solid performance back in his defensive midfield position as they managed to pick up three more points to make it three wins in their last four games.
Mokotjo, 28, has played 17 of their 22 games in the English Championship this season, but has been a victim of squad rotation by Thomas Frank as the Dane looks to keep them fresh and flying in England’s second tier – something that the Bafana Bafana man seems to be ok with.
Speaking to the club after the game v Fulham, Mokotjo said, “It was a bit busy here and there, but that’s what I do - I grow stronger and stronger into the game as it goes on. I’m fairly calm even when I make mistakes - so that went well today and it was good to have a run in my CDM position.
“It’s been a tough season, but the good thing is that I expected it to be a tough season so that prepared me mentally for what’s coming. I’ll keep working hard, make sure I keep my level on the pitch, so that’s no problem for me. When the team does well, I’m happy.”
Brentford can really show their promotion credentials between now and the end of the year as they face West Bromwich Albion, Swansea City and Millwall before 2019 comes to a close, and they’ll be hoping to remain in the play-off places by the time the year is over.
