Mokotjo On His First English Goal: It’s One Of My Best!
Kamohelo Mokotjo Has Discussed His First Goal In England
Kamohelo Mokotjo says that it was great to get his first goal in English football for Brentford over the weekend, joking about the fact that it doesn’t happen very often.
The 26-year-old drove the ball home from the edge of the box as he opened the scoring for the Bees against Sunderland on Saturday, putting in another fine performance as his side continued their march towards the Championship play-off spots. His goal ultimately went on to win Goal of the Weekend in the division.

Mokotjo only tends to get one goal a season – he’s scored one in each of the last four now – and only once managed two in a campaign (2013/14), but he does seem to be somewhat of a lucky charm. He hasn’t lost a game in which he’s scored since back in 2010 when playing for Excelsior.
Speaking to iFollow after Brentford’s win, he said, “I always say if I score, we win… I don’t get to score much! I just aimed between one of the player’s legs in the box and got a clean strike on the ball. It was a great goal, I enjoyed it.
“It doesn’t matter how long it’s been since I last scored, what makes it special is that it’s my first goal for Brentford and that we got the win.”
Meanwhile, when asked about his dancing celebration, Mokotjo replied, “I joke around a lot. The boys asked me to dance so I did that for them! It’s how I express my joy – it’s one of the best goals I’ve scored.”
Brentford now face Birmingham City tonight and could potentially close the gap on sixth-placed Bristol City to just three points if results go their way.
