Banyana Stars Shine In Champions League…

Four South Africans got to work in the UEFA Women’s Champions League this week, with one of them marking her debut with a goal in a 12-0 walloping…
The group stages of this year’s UWCL got underway on August 7, and five Banyana stars were on the verge of making their debut in the competition for different clubs around Europe.
While Rhoda Mulaudzi missed out as Apollon Ladies smashed Riga 10-0, Nothando Vilakazi, Jermaine Seoposenwe, Rachel Sebati and Letago Madiba all made their bow in the biggest women’s club tournament in the world.
Vilakazi and Seoposenwe both played 90 minutes for Gintra Universitetas as they got off to a winning start with a 1-0 victory over Birkirkara, and are expected to feature once again tomorrow night at home against Wexford Youths.
It was an even better day at the office for Sebati and Madiba though, with the duo coming on in the second half of Minsk’s 12-0 win against Bettembourg, making time to land an assist and a goal respectively ahead of Saturday’s clash with ZNK Split.
All three clubs could qualify for the knockout stage this weekend should results go their way, however failing that they will have another bite of the cherry next week on August 13 in the final group game.
