A German midfielder is currently being linked with a move to South Africa’s top-flight.
As reported in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, Lukas Gortler, who has been on the books of Utrecht in the Eredivisie, is keen on plying his trade in Mzansi.
According to Siya sources, the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City have all been made aware of the 24-year-old’s availability.
The midfielder will become a free agent at the end of the season, with his representative, Sean Roberts revealing that he has already spoken to a few clubs in South Africa about the player.
“Gortler is looking for a big challenge in his career, I did something similar when I was younger, I played in Europe and I wanted to travel, I ended up in Asia and back in South Africa,” Roberts told the Siya crew.
“He is an attacking midfielder and played an instrumental role for Utrecht this past season.
“Alje Schut, who’s a former Sundowns player, is currently the technical director at Utrecht and he’s no stranger to South African football and thinks Gortler could add value to the league.
“I have spoken to a few clubs in South Africa already,” Roberts revealed.
