Dean Furman’s Doncaster Rovers crashed out of the FA Cup in a five goal thriller while Tokelo Rantie’s AFC Bournemouth’s game was postponed, Kgosietsile Ntlhe’s Peterborough United will have to take part in a third round replay, Steven Pienaar was an unused sub as Everton won, while Kagiso Dikgacoi played the whole match as Crystal Palace beat West Brom.
It was disappointing Saturday afternoon for Furman after Doncaster were surprisingly beaten 3-2 at home by Stevenage.
Stevenage are a full league below Doncaster, but were unable to prevent them from finding the back of the net three times.
Furman played 56 minutes of the match before being substitute while Bongani Khumalo watched the entire 90 minutes from the bench.
Ntlhe’s Peterborough suffered a slightly better fate as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Kidderminster Harriers.
It is an extremely disappointing result for Ntlhe, who played the entire match, and his side who would have expected to beat a team a full two leagues below them.
The two sides will now have to do battle in a third round replay.
Kagiso Dikgacoi played the full match as Crystal Palace beat West Brom 2-0, while Steven Pienaar was an unused substitute as Everton beat Queens Park Rangers 4-0 in their FA Cup clash.
The only other South African scheduled to take part in the FA Cup on Saturday was Rantie’s Bournemouth, but their match against Burton Albion was postponed after a third pitch inspection due to a waterlogged pitch following heavy rains on Friday night in Dorset.
The tie will now be played on Tuesday January 14.
