A former Orlando Pirates youth coach has linked up with Ernst Middendorp at Ethiopian giants Saint George SC.
Following his exit from Kaizer Chiefs at the end of last season after his unsuccessful attempt to win the league, Middendorp was snapped up by the 29-time Ethiopian league winners on a three-year deal as they aim to reclaim the glory, having last won the trophy in 2017.
As part of his plan for success, the German mentor has lured Maahier Davids to join him at the Addis Ababa outfit.
After a stint with Pirates as the ProjectX coach from January last year, Davids left the Soweto giants at the end of the season to join Cape Umoya United for their GladAfrica Championship campaign.
Davids, who holds a Uefa A licence, previously worked alongside Middendorp at Free State Stars – when he started out in the Mzansi’s top-flight, and at Maritzburg United before he worked as his older brother Fadlu’s assistant at the Team of Choice.
Saint George have posted on their official Facebook page the pictures of Davids alongside Middendorp with the caption: Pictures of the members of our main soccer team entering the academy in Bischofswerda today!
