It was a difficult day for South Africans abroad, aside for Kagisho Dikgacoi who enjoyed victory in the Premier League with Crystal Palace.
Dropping down one tier into the Championship, it proved to be a miserable day for Dean Furman and Bongani Khumalo against Tokelo Rantie's new club AFC Bournemouth.
Khumalo started for Rovers while Furman failed to get off the bench. South African-born Andrew Surman, who also turns out for Bournemouth, stayed on the bench while Rantie was not yet a part of the squad following his transfer from Malmo. Brett Pitman scored the decisive goal in the 31st minute.
Kgosi Ntlhe represented SA in League One in England, but after a stunning start to the season for Peterborough, the Posh were downed by a double from Gary Alexander of Crawley Town. To top it off, the South African came off at the break, with Mark Little taking his place.
Sive Phekezela was in action in Sweden, though he only got to enjoy a seven-minute cameo with his side having already fallen 3-0 behind at AIK.
