Kaizer Chiefs look set to lose out on one of their transfer targets, who appears to be closing in on a European topflight move.
Following his impressive displays for the SA-under 23 team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games, Thabo Cele landed on the radar of Kaizer Chiefs who have been rather active in the transfer market, after their two-window transfer ban was lifted.
As reported by the Siya crew, Chiefs expressed an interest in the 24-year-old, who is currently a free agent after parting ways with Portuguese second division side Cova Piedade upon the expiry of his contract on 30 June.
Now, according to reports in Poland, Chiefs could lose out on the midfielder, who is keen on remaining in Europe.
Cele has spent the last three days training with Polish Ekstraklasa outfit RKS Radomiak Radom, where he has managed to impress the 13th placed side’s technical team, with indications that he could be handed a contract.
According to Weszlo.com Cele has looked solid in training, but it is not his ability on the field that is of concern.
The Polish outfit are more focused on the player’s adaptation off the field and how long it will take him to acclimatize to conditions in the country; however, given that he has spent the last four years in Portugal and is now fluent in the language, adapting to life in Radiomak shouldn’t prove to be a challenge for the KZN Academy graduate, who looks set to sign on the dotted line in the coming days.
