Brøndby’s SA Star Makes Team Of The Month

The star of Brøndby’s South African midfielder, Lebogang Phiri, continues to rise in Denmark after he was named in a leading Team of the Month for August.

Phiri, 21, has been coming on leaps and bounds in Scandinavia over the past two seasons, and this campaign has helped his side win four of their opening games as they embarked on a seven-game unbeaten run.

Having been named in Tipsbladet’s Team of the Week earlier in the month, the former Bidvest Wits man has now made it into their prestigious Team of the Month following a number of fine performances.

Phiri, who has less than a year left to run on his contract with the Danish giants, says that there is still more to come from he and his teammates.

Speaking to the Siya crew about making the Team of the Month, Phiri said, “Making the team of the month explains the level of performances both the team and I have been pulling off this season so far. We've managed to make sure that Brøndby have their best start in 10 years, and as we speak we're on top of the league alongside Copenhagen. We’re scoring and creating a lot of goals.

“The role I play this season has more impact on our offensive play than ever before, and I've managed to bag in two assists in our first seven league matches. I could've gotten a goal or two to go alongside them too, which shows much more improvement from last season. I'm confident in our style of play and I believe it's going to bring out the best of me in the team. Making the team of the month is only the beginning of a great season to come.”

Brøndby will look to continue their unbeaten start to the domestic campaign after the international break, and will be hoping that Phiri can keep up his solid form and help them do so.
