Zungu To Replace Liverpool Signing In France?
Bongani Zungu’s next big move could be just around the corner, with Monaco thought to have earmarked him as a potential replacement for their star who left for Liverpool.
Zungu has gone from strength to strength since leaving Mamelodi Sundowns, excelling at both Vitoria de Guimaraes and Amiens in Portugal and France respectively as he went on to become one of the first names on Stuart Baxter’s Bafana Bafana teamsheet.
The Siya crew recently reported that it could take an offer of around €6m (R95m) to persuade Amiens to let the midfielder leave the club, however, it does appear that they are open to him taking the next step in his career if the fee is right.
Now, as explained in the latest issue of Soccer Laduma, it is believed that Zungu’s name has made it onto the list of players who could potentially come in to replace Fabinho at the club following his big-money move to Liverpool ahead of the 2018/10 campaign.
Zungu played a big role in helping his side secure their Ligue 1 status last season as he took his first steps in French football, but while Amiens would be reticent to let him leave, it doesn’t look like they would stand in his way if a mutually beneficial deal is put on the table.
The crew will continue to monitor Zungu’s situation in the coming weeks, with the ex-Guimaraes man having recently touched down back in France to begin his pre-season.
