The Siya crew have been informed that former Orlando Pirates assistant, O'Loughlin, has decided to appoint McCarthy as his assistant after they worked well together when Bafana Bafana's leading goalscorer spent time there while undergoing his UEFA coaching badges.
McCarthy's new job will be his first as a coach and he will be eager to help O'Loughlin keep up their good start to the season.
It was reported earlier today that O'Loughlin was expected to be announced as the new head coach of STVV following Yannick Ferrera's departure for Standard Liege, and his unveiling is expected later this evening.
The Bafana legend is on the way to completing his UEFA Pro Licence, a licence that will allow him to coach in any league in the world once he feels that he is ready.
