Football pundits in Côte d’Ivoire are questioning former Orlando Pirates midfielder Bennett Chenene’s age, according to the player's representative, as a result of his influence at Williamsville Athletic Club.
As reported by the Siya crew, a move back to South Africa seems unlikely at this stage for Chenene, with the 36-year-old enjoying his football at WAC.
Speaking to the Siya crew, Chenene’s agent Kenneth Yamongbe says that the ex-Buccaneer’s age is being questioned – with some pundits thinking that he is younger than his real age.
“Bennett is doing well and is back in shape. The speed is there and some of the sport’s pundits there are even questioning his age, because he is even more effective than some of the youngsters of the team. The team is made up of youngsters, so Bennett is there to try and bring his experience to the team,” said Yamongbe.
“I think now he has (scored) around five or six goals. The chairman is very happy with him for the input he is bringing to the team as he is also like a coach on the pitch. He is doing well, unfortunately the team is languishing in the bottom of the league but there’s still a possibility of them to avoid relegation. Bennett is definitely one of the pillars of the team,” the representative added.
