Janine van Wyk, who now has 170 caps for Banyana Banyana, has been South Africa’s captain for some time now, and realised her dream of playing overseas for the first time when she spent a spell with Houston Dash in the United States of America.
Now, not too long after returning from Banyana’s first ever World Cup with Desiree Ellis, Van Wyk has secured herself a move to Fortuna Hjørring in Denmark as they prepare themselves for next month’s UWCL Round of 32 clash with Vllaznia of Albania.
As reported on SAFA.net, van Wyk said, “I am incredibly excited to join Fortuna Hjorring, a club that has a great development structures and believes in the growth of women’s football. I can’t wait to get started and contribute to being the best I can be for this amazing team.”
The 32-year-old centre back is due to team up with her new employers next month ahead of the first leg of their UWCL tie on September 11.
