Tau Speaks After Belgian Heroics
Percy Tau, who has just three games left before his loan with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise comes to an end, has spoken about his second half heroics as he played a blinder in Belgium at the weekend.
The 24-year-old has had a successful first season with RUSG following his temporary switch from Brighton & Hove Albion, and got a late assist and goal (his 13th and 11th of the season respectively) as his side made a shock comeback to beat Cercle Brugge in the dying moments of their clash on Saturday.
It remains to be seen what lies ahead for the Bafana Bafana international going into the 2019/20 season as the prospects of a work permit to play in the English Premier League remain slim, but it appears that he has enjoyed his time playing in the Belgian Proximus League, especially in the games where they’ve beaten top-flight opposition.
Speaking to the club’s official website after their latest win, the attacker said, "We are obviously happy to take three points, especially after an end of the match like that. The coach asked us to continue giving everything; so we developed our actions and were able to finish them.
“This victory is that of our coach, because he gave us again the desire to believe it! We are doing our best, and taking this number of points against division one teams is the result of our teamwork."
Saint-Gilloise are currently second in their play-off group, however they will not progress even if they go on to win it due to the fact that they don’t have the correct licence to play in the UEFA Europa League next season.
