Tau Comments On Brighton Future After Award Win
Percy Tau’s future remains in the balance going into the 2019/20 season, and he has now commented about what may lie ahead for him in the coming weeks.
Tau, who celebrated winning the Proximus League Player of the Season award in Belgium this week, will see his loan with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise come to an end once the 2018/19 season closes, and his efforts in the Belgian second tier have certainly given him reason to be optimistic for what lies ahead.
The 24-year-old attacker is likely to return to Brighton & Hove Albion, his parent club, to discuss his future after he has played RUSG’s final three games of their campaign, but the man himself says that he thinks things may only work themselves out once the African Cup of Nations is over.
When asked where he will be next season, the Bafana Bafana international told the presenters in Belgium, “I think that will all be decided after the AFCON, which I have in June, but the whole focus at the moment is just at Union to try and finish off the playoffs that we have.”
Tau's struggles to get a work permit to play in England may mean that he has to wait longer to get a runout for the Seagulls in the Premier League, though there's no doubt that there will be plenty of eyes on him when the AFCON gets underway next month.
Saint-Gilloise are currently second in their play-off group, with three games to play, although will not progress to the UEFA Europa League even if they go on to win due to the fact that they don’t have the correct licence to do so.
