Tau Heading For Champions League?
Percy Tau could get the top-flight move he’s been chasing as he reportedly draws closer to joining a UEFA Champions League outfit for 2019/20.
Tau, who got 13 goals and 13 assists for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the Belgian Proximus League last season, is set to go out on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion once again due to his lack of work permit, and it appears that he could be on his way back to Belgium.
The Bafana Bafana star won the Player of the Season award for his efforts last season, and has certainly turned a few heads in the country after attracting interest from the likes of Anderlecht and Royal Antwerp in the past – but it appears that Club Brugge are set to land his signature.
Het Nieuwsblad in Belgium reports that the deal is almost done, saying, “In Bruges it sounds that the conversations are ongoing and there are several candidates, but sources around Tau say that the deal is virtually complete, apart from a few details. It is a lease agreement.”
Tau will no doubt be eager to get his future finalised as soon as possible so that he can crack on with the season ahead as continues to climb the ladder in European football.
Brugge’s UCL campaign will get underway next month in the third qualifying round of the tournament as they look to try and book their spot in the group stages for the second year in a row.
