Zungu Puts Contract Talks On Ice
Bongani Zungu has decided to put contract talks with Amiens SC on ice so that he can focus on recovering from injury.
The 26-year-old is currently doing rehabilitation on a knee injury that he sustained playing for his side in Ligue 1, and is only expected back in action at some point early next year.
It had been confirmed that, despite his injury, Amiens were keen to open up talks with the Bafana Bafana international about extending and improving his contract in France, with Siya sources revealing that a one-year extension was on the table.
Now, with Zungu a couple of months into his rehab, the Siya crew has been informed that the former Mamelodi Sundowns man has requested his club to shelve any talk of a new deal so that he can focus on making a full recovery and getting back on the field for them as soon as possible.
Amiens are sitting third bottom of Ligue 1 at present, and four of their top points were picked up in the two games that Zungu featured prior to his nasty injury.
As things stand it is thought that Zungu will be back around February, and it appears that his focus is on trying to get back to help them survive the drop rather than worry about his own personal deal.
