Bafana's Andile Jali Reached His Oostende Century At The Weekend
Andile Jali hit a milestone with KV Oostende over the weekend as he made his 100th appearance for the Belgian club.
Jali, 27, joined Oostende from Orlando Pirates back in 2014, and after a rough spell earlier this year, has managed to become a regular fixture in the team once again in the 2017/18 campaign.
The club has endured a difficult season so far with just one win from their 10 league games, and on Sunday had a point stolen away from them in the dying moments as they lost 3-2 to Clube Brugge. Jali played 90 minutes.
His 12 games in 2017/18 so far saw him hit the 100-game milestone, and he was handed a commemorative jersey by the Belgian club as the reward for his achievement.
Speaking after the defeat at the weekend, the Bafana Bafana international said, “I’m happy that I’ve played 100 games for the team. Results are not good, but we will take it as a team and do better because we’ll keep fighting. We were fighting until the last minute, we don’t deserve this, but it’s happening and it’s football. We can’t control this.
“I think we’re doing good now, but the results are not coming. If we keep playing like this then something will come up.
“I’m happy to play 100 games for Oostende. After three years I’ve been here, so I’m happy.”
Oostende face Sint-Truidense on Saturday when Jali could come up against another South African, Kurt Abrahams.
