Bafana Bafana head coach Molefi Ntseki has joined the rest of South Africa in singing Percy Tau’s praises after the forward netted on his debut for new club, Anderlecht.
Tau was a second half substitute for the Belgian giants on Sunday evening and wasted no time in introducing himself to the Anderlecht faithful with a delightful chip in their 3-1 win over St Truiden.
This was the third time the 26-year-old completed this feat, after scoring on debut in similar fashion for both Royal Union Saint-Gilloise and Club Brugge.
Speaking to SAFA’s official website, his national team head coach Ntseki was full of praise for the former Mamelodi Sundowns man.
“It is every South African wish to see their idol doing well in Europe and for me I am really happy for Percy,” Ntseki explained.
“Mentally, he is a fighter, he is a strong character and a focused individual. I know most people want to see him in England but his time will definitely come. I like Tau’s unwavering commitment and I am glad he has hit the ground running with his new club,” added Ntseki.
The ‘Lion of Judah’ is on a season loan spell with the Belgian outfit from the English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion.
It was also confirmed that Tau will now be coached by former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, who will take over the reins on a four-year deal at Anderlecht, after calling time on his illustrious career aged 34.
