Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane’s ambition of lifting his second CAF Champions League trophy has been dealt another blow.
Mosimane is pulling out all the stops to ensure that he has his Red Eagles troops focused and zoned in ahead of what is dubbed ‘the final of the century’.
In preparation for Friday’s encounter, the 56-year-old and his squad entered a closed camp, in which no media outlets are allowed as he adds the final touches to his preparations.
Mosimane’s plans has not been without any hinderances though. The club’s official website confirmed that a third Ahly player, in Walid Soliman tested positive for COVID-19.
This is added to both Mohamed Sherif and Mahmoud Kahraba, who have been ruled out of the final after testing positive for the virus.
It hasn’t been all doom and gloom for Jingles however, as the charismatic coach received a boost when Ali Malooul - who is a vital cog in Mosimane’s plans, arrived in Cairo this week after doing duty for the Tunisia national team.
There was a delay in the return of the left-back, which saw Al Ahly flex their financial muscle as they deployed a private jet to ensure the defender’s safe arrival in Mosimane’s closed camp.
Al Ahly and Zamalek will square off in the CAF Champions League final at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday.
