Zungu Bid Accepted, French Move On The Cards

Amiens Have Been Given Permission To Talk To Bafana's Bongani Zungu

By Soccer Laduma - Aug 31, 2017 04:32 PM
Portuguese club, Vitoria de Guimaraes, are believed to have accepted an offer from Amiens SC, with the French outfit looking to try and sign Bafana Bafana’s Bongani Zungu.

The Siya crew reported earlier this week that the Ligue 1 team had turned their attention to the 24-year-old as they look to bolster their squad further before the window ends.

Now, according to Siya sources, Amiens have been given permission to open up talks with the South African international – while he’s in camp with the South African national team – after Guimaraes were satisfied with the transfer bid put in front of them.

While it is unknown exactly how much Amiens have offered, Guimaraes were thought to be looking for a figure of around €2.5m for Zungu if they were to let him go, with the price having been lowered due to the fact that he is now in the last year of his contract.

Given the fact that Zungu is currently in Cape Verde it remains to be seen what the logistics of getting the deal finalised will include, however, Christophe Pélissier will be hoping that his side can do enough to persuade the former Mamelodi Sundowns man to make the move to the French North.

Amiens is a good team...in 2007 I went to visit the team and city. While playing for Rosina Sedibane Sports School, we played against their development team in France....Great facilities, City, Passionate fans and Squad. Good luck buddy.

I just don't know for Zungu to sign for the League 1 newbies is a good idea. yes as player u should go where you are needed and promised game time, what intrigues me is that he's still a regular at Gimaeres mos and will be playing in EUROPA League, but why is he leaving Gimaeres for League 1 rookies? Is it for financial reasons or he wants to be close to his hommies? we don't know we'll have to wait for his explanation as to why he left.

Mamelodi Sundowns have bolstered their defensive department with the addition of South African international Rivaldo Coetzee. The 20-year-old only recently returned from overseas following a failed medical which saw his proposed move to Scottish giants Celtic fall through at the very last moment. Coetzee has long been on the radar of the Tshwane giants, but recent reports suggested that Orlando Pirates were also plotting a move for the Ajax Cape Town youngster. However, Sundowns have been quick to renew their interest in Coetzee and have subsequently snapped up Coetzee with only hours remaining in the July/August transfer window. The Kakamas-born defender will now join several new faces at Chloorkop as Pitso Mosimane’s side have already roped in the trio of Oupa Manyisa, George Lebese and Ghanaian international goalkeeper Razak Brimah during the current transfer window. Despite the defender’s tender age, he has already become a stalwart of the national team, and Coetzee will now be expected to marshal the line alongside the likes of Motjeka Madisha, and Wayne Arendse at the Tshwane- based outfit.

In my sober mind I won't leave Guimaraes for a recent promoted team like Amiens. All the best anyway.
