Mahlambi’s Ahly Absence Explained…
Al Ahly Have High Hopes For Phakamani Mahlambi
Al Ahly’s head coach has praised young South African, Phakamani Mahlambi, but says that he still needs more time before becoming a regular.
The 20-year-old attacker has played 12 times for the Egyptian giants this season following his move from Bidvest Wits, grabbing one goal and five assists along the way as he looks to try and make a name for himself as the first South African to play in the Egyptian Premier League.
However, Mahlambi hasn’t been in Ahly’s squad for their last two games against Smouha and Wadi Degla, and Hossam El-Badri believes that he still needs to get used to things at the club, but has high hopes for the Bafana Bafana international.
Speaking to the club’s official website, El-Badri said, “Phakamani is a good player, but he still needs more time to accommodate the place he is in… Of course, I hope to get through this phase quickly, because we need his services.”
Ahly have already won the league this season, completing a league and cup double, and Mahlambi will be eager to try and finish on even more of a high going into the last three games of the season.
