Pitso Mosimane was on the receiving end of a sentimental gift after romping to a convincing 7-1 victory despite being without a number of his stars who were on international duty, including Percy Tau.
The international break, filled with drama and controversy, brought a halt to domestic proceedings around the world.
But for the Al Ahly manager, it gave him time to fine tune some of his preparations for the resumption of the Egyptian Premier League, which he is desperate to snatch away from fierce rivals Zamalek, who pipped the Red Eagles to the title last season.
As a result, Mosimane and his side played a friendly against Second Division side Minyet Samannoud, which ended 7-1 in favor of Al Ahly.
Karim Fouad, Ahmed Abdelkader, Mahmoud Kahraba, Taher Mohamed Taher, and Hossam Hassan Hossam Hassan and Hussein El-Shahat were all on the scoresheet for Jingles’ side.
The win was well received by a faction of the Al Ahly fans who made their way onto the pitch to hand the 56-year-old a special gift as a token of their appreciation for his contribution to the club.
The coach received custom made posters, which depict all of Mosimane’s achievements in the one year that he has been in charge of the African Club of the Century.
Mosimane and his side will resume league proceedings this Friday when they take on Arab Contractors.
