Following Knowledge Musona’s recent comments that he will make a decision on his future immediately after the Africa Cup of Nations, the players’ agent has now suggested that a move away from Belgium for the striker is unlikely.
Musona triggered speculation that he could very well be leaving Anderlecht ahead of the 2019/20 season and was linked with a return to Kaizer Chiefs straight after he'd spoken to the media about his frustration in Belgium.
“Last year I did not play much and, honestly, I wasted a year of my playing career. I did not enjoy it because of the way I was treated by the club,” the one-time PSL Golden Boot winner told Zimbabwe’s NewsDay Sport while in camp with the national team for the COSAFA Cup in Durban.
However, his agent Mike Makaab told the Siya crew on Thursday that Musona has a long-term contract and talk of leaving Anderlecht was premature.
Musona spent the second half of the previous season on loan to Lokeren and the other half kicking his heels on the bench at his parent club.
“Yes, the player did not get a lot of opportunities to play last season and frankly it is understandable why he was frustrated. But he has a long-term contract with the club,” Makaab explained.
