Deon Hotto, Gabadinho Mhango and Fortune Makaringe all got onto the scoresheet as Bucs swept the PSL newbies aside, while Jooste scooped the Man of the Match award following his marauding performance down Bucs’ right flank.
After the match, the 29-year-old shed some insight into the players’ mentalities that saw them claim their first win in 2021.
"We came here with the right mindset, the right attitude. From the first whistle, we decided that we are going to give it our all. We got the first one and once we got the first one, we weren’t complacent. We said to ourselves, “we need to score more” Once we got the second one, we went into the half time break 2-0 up and then even inside at half time we were motivating each other to come out and not be complacent and carry on where we left off. That’s just what happened today,” Jooste told Pirates’ media department.

According to Jooste, having arrived in Limpopo a few days earlier proved crucial for the Buccaneers as they managed to acclimatize to the sweltering conditions in Thohoyandou.
“It’s very hot here so it helped us acclimatize and with the conditions as well as you said, we’ve been here since Monday. It’s very important for us not just winning but to score goals. Like we know also that goals are going to make a big difference at the end coming into the league,” Jooste added.
