Orlando Pirates have confirmed their full list of fixtures for the 2019/20 season as they gear up to try and go one better than the previous campaign.
The Buccaneers finished runners up behind eventual champions Mamelodi Sundowns and ran them close until the final days of the Absa Premiership term. In attempting to improve on their second place finish, Pirates will have to identify some key fixtures for a strong start next month.
They Siya crew has picked out the following as their top five big matches that could help set the tone in what will be a defining season for coach Micho Sredojevic.
August 3: Bloemfontein Celtic (H)
It’s the opening match and they say first impressions last. The Buccaneers must make a statement with their first game of the Absa Premiership.
August 14: SuperSport United (A)
Matsatsantsa will most likely be among the title contenders depending on how solid their transfer window is – and they always have it in them to upset the applecart.
September 21: Bidvest Wits (A)
Gavin Hunt has again rang the changes and is bringing in new playing personnel. The Clever Boys are often a tricky customer and the Buccaneers had to rely on an own goal from Keagan Ritchie the last time at that venue.
October 26: Stellenbosch FC (A)
Rookies are dangerous. Pirates seldom get a result they want in the Western Cape. For the new comers this will be a big fixtures on their home ground.
November 9: Kaizer Chiefs (A)
The biggest fixture on the SA football calendar and most recently the Buccaneers have had the upper hand. Will they continue their dominance over Amakhosi?
