Former Orlando Pirates defender, Tonic Chabalala, has made a plea to the Soweto giants about Rulani Mokwena as the team attempts to move up the Absa Premiership log, after a disappointing start to the season.
Following a disappointing winless run, the Buccaneers finally returned to winning ways this past weekend, with their 2-1 victory over Chippa United at Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The win was the first for Rulani Mokwena since he took charge of the team after the resignation of Milutin Sredojevic last month.
“The win for Pirates this past weekend will be a huge morale booster for the team. The team has been under pressure as they didn’t have a good start to the season. Rulani has been under pressure and my plea to the club is that they should give him a chance to prove himself as the team’s coach,” said Chabalala.
“My concern has been the timing of him getting the job. The timing wasn’t right, as everything happened suddenly (after Sredojevic’s resignation). All that needs to be done is to give Rulani all the support he needs to coach Pirates,” the legend added.
Pirates have moved up the log to seventh after their win and their next match will be against Bidvest Wits on Saturday.
