Following Orlando Pirates star Thembinkosi Lorch’s arrest for alleged domestic violence, the player’s mentor has called for the player to be reprimanded although also pleading for his forgiveness.
Pirates confirmed yesterday that the club is aware of an alleged incident involving the reigning PSL Footballer of the Season although the club said they would not comment further as the matter is under the hands of the authorities.

“This matter is currently in the hands of the authorities. As a club we cannot comment further except to say that we condemn all forms of violence, especially violence against women and children. We support the rights of each and every individual but we strongly condemn violence,” Pirates said in their statement, in part.

Lorch’s mentor and former coach, Morena Ramoreboli, condemned the player’s actions while also pleading to the public to forgive him for the ‘mistake’ he made.
“To be honest we can’t condone the fact that the boy has made a mistake and allegedly beat a woman as that is wrong. We are not raising our sons to beat women. Unfortunately, that was uncalled for and he needs to be reprimanded. I so wish that the lady can find it in her heart to forgive him. I wish they can both sit down and talk and try to find out where all their differences come from. Our partners are the ones that make us strong when everybody is rejecting us,” said Ramoreboli.

“I understand he made a mistake but we can’t condone the issue of a boy child beating a girl child. It shouldn’t happen! I feel sorry for the lady and I wish I could speak to her and make her understand how sorry I am about what happened. I so wish that South Africa can treat Thembinkosi Lorch as their own, he has made a mistake and let’s try to show him the right direction and support him. This is the first mistake since I know him and I think it is the last mistake,” the coach added.
