SuperSport United have identified an Orlando Pirates player as a potential long-term replacement for veteran defender Onismor Bhasera.
But the deal to try get Tebogo Tlolane to Matsatsantsa could prove complicated seeing as the Buccaneers have already turned down a request to discuss the possible transfer of another left back in Bongani Sam.
Indications are that SSU want either one of the two players to take over from Bhasera, 35, in the near future, although their pursuit of Sam was initially shot down by Pirates.
The Siya crew reported in June that the Tshwane outfit had approached the Soweto giants over Sam, but the player’s agent confirmed the move, along with interest from AmaZulu, had been rejected by the Buccaneers.
It’s now emerged that SSU are keen to try their luck on luring Tlolane to beef up coach Kaitano Tembo’s squad, but they know this would be tough to pull off.
Tlolane spent the previous two seasons on loan at Maritzburg United and it’s understood they, too, were keen on making the move permanent, but that hasn’t happened.
SSU may try to entice the Buccaneers with a swap deal, though it’s not yet clear who would be offered up. A cash deal is also being mooted.
But the fact that Bhasera will still be available this season, albeit with his game-time being managed, it does buy SSU time to find a replacement.
Could it be Tlolane?
