Possible changes are on the cards for Orlando Pirates as the club is expected to announce the arrival of a Bafana Bafana midfielder, among the signings for the new season.
As reported, the Buccaneers are expected to have Fortune Makaringe join the club for the new season, with indications that a deal between the parties has been agreed to in principle.
Having missed out on making it into coach Stuart Baxter’s final squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, Makaringe will be expected to report for training at the Buccaneers when the team returns for their pre-season next week.
Makaringe will be expected to compete with the likes of Xola Mlambo, Ben Motshwari and Musa Nyatama for the central midfield role in coach Milutin Sredojevic’s line-ups at Bucs, with the 26-year-old having emerged as one of the top performers in the league with his contribution of 11 assists for the Team of Choice during the 2018/19 Absa Premiership season.
However, Makaringe’s signing could mean end of the road for some Bucs’ midfielders, who may either be released or loaned out to other clubs for the new season.
Already, midfielders Linda Mntambo and Meshack Maphangule have been linked with loan moves to Chippa United, while Mpho Makola has been linked with an exit from the club.
Young Augustine Mahlonoko could also be put on loan for the upcoming season.
