After the announcement yesterday by Orlando Pirates that defender Thulani Hlatshwayo was now their player, the Siya crew can also reveal the length of his contract.
In the club’s statement on Monday unveiling ‘Tyson’, who played and captained Bidvest Wits to a first ever league title in 2017, the details of his deal were not disclosed.
Siya sources have now indicated that the Bafana Bafana skipper has put pen to paper on a four-year contract with an added option for one more season.
It means Hlatshwayo is expected to be a Pirates player until at least June 2025 taking him all the way to his 35th birthday.
The Buccaneers confirmed the news that their supporters had been waiting for over the last couple of months following the decision taken by the Bidvest Group to sell Bidvest Wits to businessman Masala Mulaudzi, who will relocate the team to Thohoyandou in Venda and rename it Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
Pirates have been interested in ‘Tyson’ since he left Ajax Cape Town six years ago, but have now finally got their man on a five-year contract, beating Mamelodi Sundowns to his signature.
