Orlando Pirates are set to promote one of the side’s most promising youngsters to the club’s first team following his glittering performances for their reserves, the Siya crew has been informed.
Lyle Foster, Azola Tshobeni, Thabiso Sesane and Thabiso Monyane – these are just a few of the players Pirates have been thrust into the first team in recent times.
And now it appears that young striker Boitumelo Radiopane could well follow in their footsteps after managing to impress coach Zinnbauer and his technical team.
On the back of a season where he was crowned the DStv Diski Challenge top goalscorer with six goals in four matches in the competition at the recently-held PSL awards, the 19-year-old striker has been included in Bucs’ pre-season camp in Rustenburg.
Insiders have informed the crew that Radiopane has featured in a host of the club’s friendly matches so far and has comfortably held his own – showing nerves of steel amongst his esteemed counterparts.
While he might not be the answer to Bucs' goalscoring woes just yet, Pirates coach Zinnbauer is no stranger to placing his faith in youngsters and giving them a fair chance if they prove themselves.
The impressive Radiopane could get his opportunity to compete with and learn from the likes of Gabadinho Mhango, Zakhele Lepasa and Tshegofatso Mabasa this season.
