A word of encouragement has come through to Orlando Pirates from the club’s legend and former coach ahead of tonight’s gigantic clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.
In search of their seventh win of the campaign and to move up the Absa Premiership log standings, the Buccaneers are well aware that it won’t be easy against the defending champions, who are chasing Kaizer Chiefs at the summit.
However, former Pirates assistant coach Teboho Moloi believes that under German coach Josef Zinnbauer, Bucs can upset Downs at home in Orlando to continue with their improved form.
Moloi says that Pirates players will need to step up and play for the 49-year-old, who has promised not to change the culture and style of Pirates in working to improve the team's results.
“It’s Pirates players’ turn to turn the tables and show Sundowns that (there is) a new coach who is helping us to turn things around. A coach who is helping us to realise what is expected from us. We also need to play for the coach and show the coach that we understand his philosophy and show the (supporters) that we feel for them,” Moloi told the Siya crew.
In three matches since taking over as Pirates coach, Zinnbauer has led the team to two wins and one draw, and has since been commended for the side’s resurgence.
