Breaking: Micho Quits!

Orlando Pirates coach Micho Sredojevic has resigned! The news come as a shock despite results having not gone the club’s way in their last two outings – an encounter in the CAF Champions League and another in the Absa Premiership.

The club has confirmed his departure in a brief statement on their official website late at 10.30pm Friday.

Sredojevic has recently been linked with the coaching job at Zamalek having made the shortlist, according Siya sources. But the Egyptian giants two days ago appointed Aleksandar Stanojević, who is the now former Bucs coach’s Serbian compatriot.

It will become clearer in the coming days what exactly were the “personal reasons” that led to him abruptly quitting his position as Pirates head coach when he still had this current season remaining on his contract.

The full statement from the club read as follows:

Milutin Sredojevic relinquishes his position as Head Coach of Orlando Pirates Football Club after two seasons at the helm. The Club would like to place on record that this decision was taken unilaterally, and it was the management’s decision to accept Mr. Sredojevic’s wish to vacate his position based on reasons he has presented which are of a personal nature. Rhulani Mokwena assumes coaching responsibilities assisted by Fadlu Davids and Franck Plaine.
