Orlando Pirates are under pressure to make a decision on a midfielder who has become increasingly frustrated at the club.
Having made one appearance in Pirates’ DStv Premiership campaign so far this season and another appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup, Nkanyiso Zungu has grown disheartened due to his lack of regular game-time and is keen on a move on loan for the second round of the season, as confirmed by sources close to the Soweto giants.
As recently reported by the Siya crew, Zungu has become a transfer target for his former club AmaZulu who are keen to reinforce their squad for Benni McCarthy ahead for the second round of the season, while another one of the attacking midfielder’s previous clubs in Stellenbosch, have also been keeping a close eye.
According to sources, Zungu’s camp is also concerned about the player’s lack of on-field minutes and attempts are being made in searching for opportunities for the 25-year-old in this transfer window.
A decision on Zungu’s future is one of the actions expected at the Buccaneers in the coming weeks as the club aims to finalize plans for the second round of the season.
Commenting on Zungu’s situation in December, Pirates co-coach Mandla Ncikazi cited stiff competition in the team’s midfield for the player’s absence from the line-ups and matchday squads.
