Orlando Pirates’ Thembinkosi Lorch could find him at risk of losing his impressive record at the Soweto giants, with the attacker set to play fewer matches than last season.
Lorch will not take any further part in Pirates’ progress this season as he will be serving his two-match ban for the red card he received against Polokwane City, and is set to miss the last two matches of the year against Baroka FC and Black Leopards respectively.
Lorch has already missed a match for Pirates this season beacuse of suspension for the four yellow cards he accumulated earlier in the campaign.
Last season, Lorch finished the campaign as Pirates’ top goalscorer with nine goals in the League and 15 in all competitions.
The Free State-born player was the second highest goalscorer in the Absa Premiership, behind Leopards’ Mwape Musonda.
Lorch has made 6 starts in the League so far this season, with a possibility to finish the campaign on 22 matches if he plays all 16 matches for Bucs next year.
He is yet to score a goal in the League this term. Meanwhile, Thegofatso Mabasa scored his 6th League goal of the season against Rise and Shine as he appears to be keen on taking the club’s top scorer award in his first season with the side.
After the match against Polokwane, Pirates coach Rulani Mokwena slammed the reigning PSL’s Footballer of the Season for last night's sending off.
“But I think the red card is deserved because he is retaliating to a situation where he shouldn't retaliate to, so I have to check again. I saw unfortunately they hit him with the ball and the emotions got the better of him, unfortunately. But that sort of behaviour can't be condoned, we'll speak to him, it's not right,” Mokwena told SuperSport after the match.
