Orlando Pirates are believed to have identified the striker to possibly partner with the red-hot Gabadinho Mhango to form a deadly partnership in the team’s attack.
Having identified Bonginkosi Ntuli as a potential signing during the first half of the season already, Pirates are believed to be considering pushing for the striker’s deal, before the January transfer window deadline.
Ntuli is joint-second on the Absa Premiership’s goalscoring charts with Kaizer Chiefs’ Samir Nurkovic.
The 28-year-old Pietermaritzburg-born forward has netted 10 strikes so far in the campaign, and is only two goals behind Mhango, who is on 12 goals.
“Pirates are still very interested in Bongi Ntuli and are considering making an offer for his services. The boy is part of the club’s long-term plans. Pirates believe that, together with Mhango, Ntuli could help the team to challenge for the league honours. As we all know, just like Mhango, Ntuli is deadly in front of goals, and this has been proven with his exploits this season,” said the source, as reported in edition 1157 of Soccer Laduma.
Meanwhile, former Pirates defender Tonic Chabalala has heaped praise on Mhango and lauded the Malawian for his impressive form and contribution to the team’s resurgence.
“For me, Mhango is the player to watch right now. That guy is a hard worker and goal scorer. He’s got a big heart,” explains Chabalala.
