Following Innocent Maela’s return to the matchday squad for Orlando Pirates in the weekend’s match against Golden Arrows after a long absence due to injury, another star player is raising his hand for the technical team to consider selecting him soon.
After being sidelined since last year, having picked a serious ankle injury in December against Chippa United, Zakhele Lepasa has finally recovered and is working hard in training to improve his fitness.
With the Buccaneers left with nine matches for the year, the 24-year-old would like to get a run at some point to show co-coaches Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids what he can do to help the team to get the desired results and to improve their position on the DStv Premiership log.
Lepasa took to social media to post a video of himself hard at work in training and on his own as he looks to get closer to the levels of the other players with regards to his fitness levels in the coming weeks.
Pirates will be in the Western Cape in their next match to face Stellenbosch FC at Danie Craven Stadium on Wednesday, with their next two matches that will follow scheduled against SuperSport United and Baroka FC respectively.
In his recent interviews, Ncikazi has said that the technical team would welcome having all the players available for selection to assist in the quest to turn their season around.
