As he prepares to return to Orlando Pirates, Tebogo ‘Messi’ Tlolane has penned an emotional message to the players and staff of Maritzburg United where he spent the second half of the season on loan.
After not forming part of the plans at Orlando Pirates six months after joining the club, Tlolane seemed undeterred. In fact, when he joined Maritzburg United on loan in January he was playing like a man with a point to prove.
Under Eric Tinkler, who moved the former Jomo Cosmos man, who played as a left back for Pirates to a more advanced role, the 25-year-old hit the ground running for the KZN outfit.
Tlolane played 12 matches in all competitions as he helped the team to a top eight finish. He contributed with a solitary goal and two assists during his time with the club.
Now, as he prepares to return to Pirates following the expiry of his loan deal, Tlolane has penned an emotional social media post to the Team of Choice.
“Last game of the season! Plenty to be grateful for. From day 1 it's been a great experience to be part of the blue army... Shout out to the chairman, Coach Eric, Coach Vincent Kobola, technical team, medical team and the BLUE ARMY SUPPORTERS for their undying and unfailing support. To the players, WE TAKE THE BLAME. You guys have been the best,” he wrote on his Instagram page.
When Tlolane does pitch up for pre-season with the Buccaneers, he will once again slug it out for a left back berth with the likes of Innocent Maela, Paseka Mako and Bongani Sam, though it remains to be seen how he will be utilized by coach Josef Zinnbauer.
