Orlando Pirates may look to count on midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch and two returning stars in their aim for resurgence in today’s clash against AmaZulu.
Following some disappointing results which saw their DStv Premiership campaign suffer after picking up only five points from a possible 12 in their last four matches, the Buccaneers will aim to bounce back with a positive result in Orlando this evening when they host high-flying Usuthu who are chasing a second-place finish to qualify for the CAF Champions League.
Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer will want to have a full-strength squad for the fixture to try and improve the team’s results and to make up for the CAF Confederation Cup exit.
As confirmed by the club, Lorch, Thabang Monare and goalkeeper Richard Ofori are expected to make a return in the league after a long absence.
While the three players have been back for the team’s Confederation Cup campaign, after Lorch and Monare played against Raja Casablanca and Ofori on the bench, the club has confirmed that the three players are also in contention for their league return.
Lorch last featured in a league game in February against SuperSport United, while Monare was last in action in the league against Maritzburg United over a month ago.
Ofori has been out for more than two months after sustaining an injury against Algeria’s ES Setif in March.
“The game could mark a return to league action for several Bucs players, with the likes of Richard Ofori, Thabang Monare, and Thembinkosi Lorch all returning to full fitness in the past week,” Pirates stated on their official website.
Veteran defender and captain Happy Jele and attacker Terrence Dzvukamanja are some of the other players expected to make their return.
