Orlando Pirates could be without eight players in their crucial Nedbank Cup quarterfinal clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Buccaneers’ congested domestic and continental schedule has taken its toll on Josef Zinnbauer’s side, who have been blighted with injuries.
Although they have been missing some key players, Pirates’ squad depth has seen them rack up the impressive results as they continue to make progress in the DStv Premiership, Nedbank Cup and the CAF Confederations Cup.
Now, with Sundowns in their sights on Thursday, Pirates could once again be without eight regular players, including Thembinkosi Lorch, who has been missing from the Pirates’ matchday squad for the last few weeks.
“Lorch, we have to wait to see what’s happening in terms of doctors and what they say. It cant be but it’s open, I’m honest it’s open,” Zinnbauer told the media in a press briefing.
Another player who could miss out for Pirates is midfielder Thabang Monare who has missed Pirates’ last two CAF Champions League matches due to injury.
